Ganbare Pro: GanPro 2024 Desire – Preview

Lots have changed since the last Ganbare Pro preview on the site. Ganbare Pro Wrestling will become independent from CyberFight at the end of March. Many wrestlers are staying, and some are graduating from GanPro. However, that’s at the end of March and we have quite the road before we reach there, and it starts with GanPro 2024 Desire.

Shota vs Munetatsu Nakamura

A battle between one wrestler that’s graduating in April, and one that will be staying. Shota has been a long time member of the GanPro roster, but will be become freelance from April. Citing that at this stage in his career he wants to get a bit selfish, and seemingly feels it’s time to spread his wings. Munetatsu Nakamura on the other hand has just celebrated his 1 year anniversary in wrestling back in December. When faced with this big decision he made the choice to stay put in GanPro. How does this connect to their singles match? Mune always wanted to face Shota in a singles setting, and it seems like now is the perfect time. Will Shota be able to stay strong until the end, or will Mune show his senior he’s closer to surpassing him than he realizes.

Riara and YuuRI vs HARUKAZE and Banny Oikawa

Riara is also set to become a freelancer in April, but is still looking to score the first win of her career before her GanPro graduation. She’s in there against three other GanJo mainstays who will all continue competing in the company going forward. With that being said, all four women involved have something to prove. The three that are staying are looking to improve their stock, and find a path to one of the SOG Championships. This one will surely be a treat.

Ken Ohka, Mizuki Watase, and Tyson Maeguchi vs Shinichiro Tominaga, Soma Takao, and Keisuke Ishii

Not much to note other than this will be Shinichiro Tominaga’s first official match as a contracted member of the GanPro roster. Expect your traditional fast paced all out GanPro trios action that the company does so well.

Yuna Manase In-Ring Return Match: Yuna Manase and Yumehito Imanari vs Unagi Sayaka and Minoru Fujita

It has been well over a year since Yuna Manase was last in action. A lot of things in both GanPro and GanJo have changed in that year. GanPro remained level headed, and the wrestlers did their best each and every show. However, the absence of the heart of Ganbare Pro Wrestling was greatly felt. Yuna Manase is one of the founding members of the GanJo brand, and on top of that has been a mainstay in GanPro since 2020. To say she’s a valuable member of the roster would be an understatement. She’s seen GanPro rapidly change in her almost four years in the company. After being medically cleared after a long time out due to surgery, she’s come back in time for another big change. GanPro will be leaving CyberFight, and Yuna will staying with the company to create a new independent GanPro.

Her return match features her relatively normal tag partner in Yumehito Imanari, Minoru Fujita, and someone she’s close with in Unagi Sayaka. She battled Unagi in singles action at the very first GanPro Ota Ward show. Unagi also competed on the second one when Yuna was out, and promised to wait for her return. Unagi after her first encounter with Manase went on an independent journey of her own, and has become one of the most high profile freelancers in all of Japan. Life on your own from underneath a big corporation is scary, but Unagi has proven that there can be success. What a perfect person for Yuna to test herself against in her return considering the ongoings in GanPro.

EVE International Championship: Yuu(c) vs Yoshiko Hasegawa

Yoshiko Hasegawa is the third member of GanPro who will be graduating from GanPro when they become independent from CyberFight. Unlike Shota and Riara, we have no indication of what Yoppy will do. She seems to be very cautious about her future, and will need to take a lot of things into consideration. However, she’s tweeted out her desire to win this title match and travel the world. For Yoshiko Hasegawa this is a culmination of all her hard work since re-debuting in GanPro. Constantly improving until she got her first win over Arisu Endo at Bad Communication 2023. The momentum didn’t stop there. In the first GanJo show of the year she picked up her first win over YuuRI in tag action. This is significant, because it was those two who told Yuna Manase to leave GanJo to them while she recovered. YuuRI constantly beat her, and won titles improving her stock all of 2023. While Yoppy stood put, but with that win Yoppy was able to catch up to YuuRI.

Afterwards, she challenged Yuu who was her tag partner for the match. Asking for a shot at Yuu’s Pro Wrestling EVE International Championship which Yuu accepted. Yuu has the advantage by a long shot beyond just power. However, Yoppy has a scrap or die mentality that could help her come away with EVE’s International Championship.

Spirit of Ganbare World Openweight Championship: Shuichiro Katsumura(c) vs Takuya Wada

For the first time ever we will see the Spirit of Ganbare World Openweight Championship battled over by the Spirit of Ganbare World Tag Team Champions. Ground Absolute comprised of Shuichiro Katsumura and Takuya Wada were one of the best tag teams of 2023, and helped the Spirit of Ganbare World Tag Team Championships gain an identity. Katsumura then struck double crown glory at Bad Communication 2023. Capturing the SOG singles from BASARA’s Isami Kodaka, and becoming the current face of GanPro. Starting off the year retaining the singles title against Ken Ohka, and then alongside Wada retaining the tag titles against Ohka and HARASHIMA. It seemed like it’s going to be another big year for Katsumura, but then an unexpected challenge came from his tag partner. Takuya Wada got the win over Ohka to retain the tag titles, and used that momentum to make his first challenge for the SOG singles title.

If there’s anyone that can stop Katsumura, it’s definitely Takuya Wada. Both men having similar backgrounds starting off in MMA, before crossing over into pro wrestling. Also being so close as tag partners they clearly know each other better than anyone. It’ll all be about who’s pro wrestling is stronger in this one. This is a pivotal match for both men, as Katsumura wants to continue to lead the soon to be independent GanPro as the SOG Champion. While Takuya Wada wants to taste that same double title glory that his partner is experiencing. The question remains who desires that burden of being double champion more?
